What a yuino is
A yuino is the rite in which two families formally confirm the promise of marriage — a Japanese betrothal tradition.
Betrothal gifts, money and an engagement ring are exchanged as proof of the promise, marking the moment the two families are joined.
Tsukiji Jisaku provides a yuino guide booklet,
so that even a first-timer can go through the rite with confidence.
A private room keeps the space to your family alone,
and the formality of the occasion is kept unhurried.

The dish Jisaku has been loved for since it opened.
Awa-odori chicken from Tokushima, onion, house ponzu, momiji-oroshi, spring onion.
Chicken and water, nothing else. A taste passed down to one heir alone, finished by a single cook known as the “mizutaki-ban”.

The yuino gifts
YUINO ITEMS
The yuino gifts are tokens that tie the couple together and wish both houses well.
Each one carries its own wish for the prosperity and happiness of the two families.
The eastern and the western halves of Japan differ here. Kanto keeps to formality, with the number of items and their shapes set out in strict order; Kansai favours a showier, more lavish display. Today few families are bound by region or house custom, and it has become quite usual to reduce the number of items to suit both sides, or to exchange only the betrothal money and a keepsake — the "simplified yuino".

FREQUENTLY ASKEDMay we bring our own yuino gifts?
Yes. We can take them in beforehand, and the nakai will help arrange them in the tokonoma. Jisaku also supplies yuino sets.
How are the yuino gifts displayed?
They are laid out in the tokonoma. The nakai helps arrange the noshi, dried squid, kombu, katsuobushi, tomoshiraga, suehiro and the rest in the order custom asks for.
Is there parking?
We have no parking of our own.
Please use one of the paid car parks or coin-operated car parks nearby.
You are welcome to be dropped off and picked up at the entrance.
