Swimming gracefully in the green garden is Chisaku's sincerity

Hundreds of round Nishikigoi carp swim peacefully in the large pond inside the Jisaku Tsukiji Residence. Koi are valued as a good-luck creature because of their longevity and strength. Various beautiful Koi such as Kohaku, Goshiki, Asagi, and German Koi, branded Koi from Yamakoshi, Niigata, will provide you with a moment of relaxation.

Nishikigoi NISHIKIGOI

Nishikigoi (Nishikigoi) is the generic name for a variety of carp improved for use as ornamental fish. Its brightly colored body was likened to Nishiki. Breeding and cultivation of Nishikigoi began in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, and they have been introduced to other parts of Japan and exported overseas. It is also called "a living jewel" and "a swimming work of art." The All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association, an industry organization, regards it as Japan's national fish.

Jisaku has been stocking Nishikigoi from Yamakoshi Village since 2004 as part of its support for the Niigata Chuetsu-oki Earthquake, which devastated Yamakoshi Village, a Nishikigoi production area. Approximately 150 fish are swimming in ponds of various sizes in Jisaku.

Jisaku's Koi are fat and plump, saying, "It's not a disgraceful thing to have skinny Koi in a restaurant.
In fact, a round and solid skeleton is important for a Koi's value, and a large, round Koi is considered a good Koi. Also, there are many things that make a koi an award-winning koi, such as a straight back, bright colors, unmixed colors, and a smart swimming style.
